We got a dog. At the shelter they said she was a Staffordshire Terrier but there’s some disagreement between Will and me about whether she’s an American Staffordshire Terrier or a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Her name is Beauty but I’ve taken to calling her baby girl. She’s six.
We got her yesterday and so far she’s a very good girl. She goes potty outside and she slept in a dog bed all night on the floor in our room. She can fetch and actually will give you the ball back. She’s okay on the leash; she just pulls a little bit when she’s really interested in something. And she follows us around the house, waiting for when we sit down on the couch so she can get up there with us. She sure seems to love her new hoomans.
But she needs more training. She loves hoomans but she wants to eat other dogs. Well we don’t know that for sure, I guess. She sure pulls when she sees one, but nobody really knows for sure what she would do if she could actually get close enough to it. The shelter guy said no dog park and keep her at least 6 feet away from others. Getting her through the shelter lobby was a little stressful because we had to pull her away from other dogs the whole way.
They also said she knows “sit” but it seems to me she needs some review. I hope she likes chicken liver.
She sounds very sweet. Congratulations to all of you.
She does like chicken liver…and gizzard. I’m glad I have a use for them now.
