Sunday rolled around all too quickly. By this time though, we were just plain bushed. I don’t even need to describe it. This is what we looked like Sunday morning:
Since we had run into the fort museum being closed last Monday, we decided that today would be a good day to check it out. After a quick breakfast, we headed over there. Now, being a fort, it’s on a hill. And being tired, we had problems climbing the hill. We had to form a human train to get up there.
We spent some time checking out the museum, getting harassed about not taking pictures, and ogling the art. Once we had our fill, we decided that some food was in order. And by “some”, I mean “buffet”. We headed down to that Chinese buffet we like so much and crammed our gullets with as much as we could hold. It was wonderful.
The post lunch activities involved looking at the crane right outside the Chinese buffet,
and wondering around the parks on the banks of the river. It really was a splendid day. I’m not sure why, but I decided to get some video of the petals in the wind.
We watched the kids playing in the park for a bit, but then we had to get in on the action.
There’s a ton of just open grass in these parks. It was relaxing.
We walked across a bridge to the other side of the river and went to that little “water park” we had found earlier. We did several “experiments” involving blocking the fountain until it broke through our little dam and flooded the rest of the system. It was fun.
Everyone got in on the action.
I think we were monopolizing it a bit, because seconds after we got done playing, a bunch of kids charged in and started in at it. I guess we’re just too scary. 🙁
We walked down the river a bit and went by a carnival that’s being set up. It’s in the same place the carnival last fall was. We had seen it all week and kept hoping it would open, but it probably won’t start until sometime in May. Stupid teasing carnival.
We walked past the ARS Electronica center, then went to the city square and got ice cream. We then headed back to the dorm. On the way we went past a building we’ve gone by many times, but this time we noticed that it was a place that Johannes Kepler lived. He’s a famous astronomer. Didn’t even know that was there.
We got back to the dorm, had a little snack, and spent the evening playing cards. We got everything the parents would need packed up, and said goodnight.
